Portraits in the Street: Vancouver 2010
From Andy Warhol's portrait of Wayne Gretzky to a new painting of figure skater Elvis Stojko, Portraits in the Street: Vancouver 2010 celebrates the Olympic spirit through unexpected outdoor encounters with famous Canadian Olympians and Paralympians in 24 framed reproductions on Granville Island. Drawn largely from the portrait collection of Library and Archives Canada, these striking images also include ordinary men and women, past and present, who have contributed to the joy and development of winter sports in Canada. The portrait collection is part of Canada's documentary heritage held at Library and Archives Canada and will be on display in Railspur Alley. Presented by Library and Archives Canada through its Portrait Gallery of Canada program, in collaboration with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
